Food Safety Management for Manufacturing


The qualification is intended for those whose job requires them to have some responsibility for food safety. Learners are likely to have management responsibilities for an operational team.


This qualification covers the subject of food hygiene at a suitable depth to ensure learners have a thorough knowledge of hazards and controls; its focus is on the importance of developing, implementing and monitoring food safety procedures.

This qualification has one mandatory unit with five learning outcomes: Principles of Food Safety Management for Manufacturing  

Entry Requirements  


  • There are no prerequisites for this qualification, although it is recommended that learners already hold a Level 3 Food Safety for Manufacturing

  • This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16+.

  • Exam Mode : Online

  • No. of  Questions : 30 MCQ & 4 Questions in Written Exam

  • Total Marks : 30+70= 100

  • Pass mark : 50/100 (50%)

  • Merit : 60/100 (60%)

  • Distinction : 70/100 (70%)

  • Duration : 150 Minutes (2 1/2 Hours)

  • How the design, layout, construction and maintenance of premises and equipment can affect food safety

  • Management and application of good hygiene practices

  • Operational methods and safe working practices

  • Food safety management procedures, including allocating resources, roles and responsibilities

  • Analyzing the risks to food safety from microbial, physical, chemical and allergenic hazards

  • Communication

  • Monitoring and record keeping

  • Corrective actions

  • Verification


The exam is conducted via Highfield E-assessment and is remotely invigilated online at your home or your workplace.​

The exam is carried out at a set time and dates convenient to you after you have completed the training, please allow up to 5 working days for Highfield to set up the exam for you, we can arrange the exam date prior to your completion of the training if you have a specific date/time in mind


You will find out if you have passed or failed immediately and will receive an e-certificate shortly after completion which has the same accreditation as a hard copy certificate.
