This qualification is aimed at food handlers and other staff involved in food preparation and service who work within the catering industry. The objective of the qualification is to support a role in the workplace.

Course Content

  • Recognise the importance of providing accurate allergen information

  • Identify the common symptoms of allergic reactions and food intolerances

  • Identify common food allergens and foods commonly causing intolerance

  • To know common sources and vehicles of contamination

  • Identify food allergen cross contamination hazards and controls

  • Identify methods of locating accurate allergen information

  • Recognise how allergen information can be provided effectively


The exam is conducted via Highfield E-assessment and is remotely invigilated online at your home or your workplace.​

Exam Requirements

  • Photographic ID

  • PC/Laptop PC or Laptop running Windows 7 or higher, or a Mac running iOS X or higher

  • Webcam

  • Smartphone running Android 4.1 or IOS 8.0 with camera / video functionality.

  • Good internet connection

  • Personal email address


Successful candidates receive a certificate from the Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance.
